Located off the A73/A721 and the main motorway network, 14 miles south east of Glasgow. Virtually merged with Motherwell, in the past it was one of the industrial powerhouses serving Scotland from the industrial revolution up until the 1980's.
Iron works were founded here in 1839, with waggon works, engineering and knitting factories the town was a prosperous industrial town for over 200 years.
Today with most of the industries gone, Wishaw, like a number of other Scottish towns is slowly re-building itself as a 21st century community....
