Located on the B792, 2 miles north of Bathgate and 2 miles south of Linthithgow.

North of the village Torphichen Preceptory was the Scottish seat of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, their church dates from the 13th century and some of it survives today. Their estate around the church provided sanctuary to criminals and debtors with the reaching of the 'Refuge Stone'....
