Stornoway, has a population of about 8000 people.
It is the only burgh in the Outer Hebrides and is home to the Western Isles council.
Although Gaelic is the primary language of the town, it is one of the few places in the Outer Hebrides where road signs are also written in English.
The main town of Lewis, it is a busy ferry and fishing port with good shopping and restaurant facilities.
