A small village in South Lanarkshire situated 3 miles (5 km) from Larkhall. Stonehouse is an old village dating back to as early as the 18th century. As so many villages in this area, Stonehouse grew as a weaving community before being taken over by the coal industry. One such coal mine was the Canderigg Colliery, which closed in the 1950's taking the villages coal industry with it.
Near by, Sodom Hill is where a covenanters battle took place in 1679. St Ninnian's Church can also tell a few stories about the villages past....
