Located off the south west tip of the island of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, it is Scotland's Holy Isle and is the burial place of Scotland's early kings. St Colomba landed here in AD563 and used it as his base for the chistianisation of the rest of the country.
The island is 3 miles long by 1,5 wide is only three quarters of mile across the strait from Mull.
The ruins of the old monastery and the restored abbey (renovated in 1910) are all within easy reach of the ferry landing....
