Colonsay and Oronsay are two islands in the Inner Hebrides to the west of Jura are only seperated at high tide. There is a ferry link to Tarbert. Colonsay House to the north of the island is famous for its sub-tropical gardens.
Oransay, from the old norse meaning "tidal place" has the remains of a 14th century priory, but was almost certainly used prior to that by the much earlier monks of St. Columba.
