Falkirk is the administrative capital for the Falkirk council. It is situated in an ideal position between Edinburgh and Glasgow at the heart of Scotland's rail and road networks. Callendar Park House which dates from the 14century is south east of Falkirk. During the the 14century King Alexander II gave most of the area to the Livingstones, this family's descendants became Earls of Callendar and Linlithgow however they forfeited these titles during the Jacobite Rising in 1715.
Falkirk has many public parks including, Dollar Park and Callendar Park, also a greyhound racetrack and football grounds.
Falkirk's main shopping centre is called Callendar Square. It has many hi-tech business parks, as well as being renowned for coach-building, paper-making and sawmilling....
