Fettercairn is a quiet village, at the point where 5 roads meet. The road to the north goes to Banchroy and Royal Deeside, east is Laurncekirk approximatly 4 miles away. When entering Fettercairn from the South you are greeted by an archway which commemorates Queen Victoria and Prince Alberts vist to and stay in Fettercairn in 1861. The claimed second oldest distillery was founded in 1824 and is still owned by Whte and Mackay, there is also a visitor centre attached to the property. Prime Minister William Gladstone's family home is Fasque House. At the start of July every year Fettercairn host a Cattle Show and Sports event, known to the locals as 'Fetterie'.... < more >
