Alva

Scotland > Central Scotland > Clackmannanshire > Alva

In the smallest of Scotland's ancient counties, Alva was a weaving town like Alloa which lies 3 miles south on the shores of the River Forth. Alva's woollen industry goes back to the 16th century.

Alva is at the foot of the Ochil Hills with the River Devon to the south of the town. The remains of an old silver mine lies nearby.
