Golspie

Scotland > Highland Counties > Sutherland > Golspie

An attractive sandy beach is just one of the things that now attract holiday makers to Golspie. In the past, fishing was the mainstay of the village. There is a memorial to Clan Sutherland on the bridge. Near to the village is Beinn a' Bhragie (1,256 feet) where there is a statue of the first Duke of Sutherland. It is amazing that it is still there being so associated with the Highland Clearances of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Some fantastic views can be had from the front - From Embo and Dornoch, due east to Tain, Portmahomack, Tarbat Ness Lighthouse, the Black Isle behind and then over to the coast of Morayshire, Banff & Buchan. Excellent links golf course and only 10 miles from Royal Dornoch Golf Course, one of the most "influencial" and testing links courses in the World - well respected by the World's best professionals.
