This was the second of Scotland's post war "New Towns" and like the others that came after it has had its growing pains. The town has over the years managed to attract many and varied industries and although it has lost some over the years since its beginings in 1949, it has managed to remain a modern, clean and healthy environment in the heart of the Fife countryside.
