Glenluce

Scotland > South of Scotland > Wigtownshire > Glenluce

This pleasant village on the sandy shores of Luce Bay is a popular holiday destination and stopping place. The village climbs the steep eastern slope of the valley.
The ruins of Luce Abbey are about 2 miles north east of the village on the bank of the River Luce on a lovely wooded site. The Abbey was founded in 1190 and the Vaulted Chapter House of 1470 is almost intact.
The village of New Luce is 5 miles distant.
