Glencaple

Located 5 miles south of Dumfries on the east side of the River Nith estuary. In the past its fortunes were based on shipping trade, it remained a busy port up until the 1930's.
Today it is mainly used as a dormintory and holiday spot for Dumfries and is a popular spot for boating and sailing.
