GarvaldScotland > Central Scotland > East Lothian > Garvald A small intimate village of considerable architectural and natural charm. Sitting on the northern slopes of the Lammermuir Hills in a deep vale of the Papana Water. The church, cottages and houses of the village are built of the attractive deep rose-coloured East Lothian stone. A Cistercian Abbey was built near here in 1952 by the white robed Trappists monks, the first new Roman Catholic monastery to be built in Scotland since the Protestant Reformation. ![]() | SubscribeKeep up to date with special offers, and events in Scotland by subscribing to our newsletter. |
