A 2 hour ferry trip from Walls on Vaila Sound, 24 miles west of Lerwick. Foula is a small island with a population of only 30. Loganair also flies to the island from the Mainland..

The island has spectacular cliffs, a harsh widy climate but exceptional wildlife including the world's largest colony of Great Skuas, Kittiwakes, Arctic Terns and Red-throated Divers. Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Shags, Fulmars live on the cliffs in addition to an increasing colony of Gannets, Leach's Petrel, Storm Petrel, and Manx Shearwater

Grey and Common Seals, Killer Whales and porpoises all frequent these cold atlantic waters.
