Fortrose

Scotland > Highland Counties > Ross and Cromarty > Fortrose

In the Black Isle of Ross and Cromarty north of Inverness over the Kessock Bridge. Used to be a very popular holiday village but now tends to be popular with people who work in Inverness. Quite a number of holiday houses/second home though.

Very pleasant village on the Inverness Firth separated from Rosemarkie by a peninsula stretching out into the First towards Fort George on the other side. This peninsula is a very respectable 18 hole golf course, which can be quite tricky in the usual cross wind.

The ruined Cathedral which dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries gives some indication of the village's prominence in times past.
