Fochabers

12 miles East of Elgin, set at the junction of the A98 and A96, Fochabers was built by the 4th Duke of Gordon in 1776, this replaced an earlier settlement which was in a serious state of decay. The modern village is built around a square which has a centre piece of a steepled clasic church built by John Baxter in 1798. "The Peeps" a local viewpoint can be found by following the Winding Walk, other woodland walks in the area. Today, Fochabers has many tourist facilties including the Baxter's Highland Village.
