Achiltibuie

Scotland > Highland Counties > Ross and Cromarty > Achiltibuie

A small fishing village in Coigach, north west Sutherland, about 40 miles by road from Ullapool. This "dead end" road to the crofting and fishing community winds past Loch Lurgen and Stac Polly one of the many beautifully and strangely sculpted mountains in the this part of Scotland.

Wonderful holiday area. Achiltibuie overlooks the Summer Isles. There can be no more beautiful sight in the whole of Scotland that looking down over Tanera Mor and Tanera Beag during a sunset in late summer.

Tanera Mor used to be home to a small community with a fishing and whaling station. Wonderful islands to explore.

Achiltibuie is also blessed with a superb hotel and a "Hydroponicum" which supplies some of the food to the hotel. An area highly recommended.
