This magnificent castle the home of the Duke of Buccleuch, stands in a lovely wooded setting in Nithsdale. It was built from 1676-1689, designed by Sir William Bruce and was occupied by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745 during the Jacobite rebellion. The grounds are home to an international horse carriage event every year.
