Culzean Castle
Scotland > South of Scotland > Ayrshire > Culzean Castle
The jewel in the crown of the National Trust for Scotland, the castle and its grounds form one of Scotland's best visitor attractions. Formerly the home of the Earls of Cassilis. The Castle is one of Robert Adams most notable creations, mainly dating from 1777.
Perched on the clifftop above Culzean Bay, overlooking the Firth of Clyde with views south from the coast of Northern Ireland to north, the Ayrshire coast at Troon and over to the Isle of Arran.
The lovely grounds and castle are the centre piece of many events year round. Restaurant, tearooms and National Trust shops highlight and promote local goods, arts and crafts.
yesscotland.com says: If you visit one place while in Ayrshire it must be this, it's got the lot, castle, walks, beaches, stunning views and everything is a credit to Scotland. Well laid out parking and helpful staff. 10 out of 10!
