YesScotland.com : A view of Crieff Located on the A85, 17 miles west of Perth. Built on a hillside above the River Earn it is a holiday destination with a sheltered climate.
The Knock of Crief rises to 911 feet and affords spectacular views.
In the village there is a 17th century tolbooth and market cross. The village was burnt to the ground by the Jacobites in 1716 but after 1723 it was re-built and improved by the 3rd Duke of Perth, James Drummond.
Up until 1770 Crief was the centre for the whole of Scotland for the drove road markets, selling cattle from the Highlands to the lowlands.
