Craigmillar Castle

Once the favourite residence of Mary, Queen of Scots (where in 1566 she planned with Bothwell the murder of Lord Danley) this historic castle on the sothern outskirts of Edinburgh, is now a ruin. Some of the Queen's attendants were French and they lived in another area close to the Castle called Little France

The castle dates back to the 14th century. In the 15th century the Earl of Mar was said to have bled to death here.
