BorveScotland > Western Isles > Isle of Lewis > Borve In gaelic, Bhuirgh, or Fort in the old Norse, Borve lies on the north western shoreline of LewisAbout 6 miles from the Port of Ness on the A857. A crofting community spear out over about a mile with access to the shoreline. This part of Lewis is particularly windy, thus the plans to develop a large windfarm in the vicinity. One mile to the south between the road and the sea lies the 6 m high standing stone known as the Trushal Stone reputed to be the site of an ancient battle but not thought to be connected to the stones at Callanish further south. ![]() |
