Isle of Unst

Scotland > Orkney and Shetland > Shetland > Isle of Unst

The most northerly of the Shetland Islands. Rugged with peat bogs, cliffs, great beaches and plenty of lochs.

Much of the island is, though, fertile and supports crofts and farms with sheep and Shetland ponies very common.

Main villages are Baltasound and Haroldswick. The island is probably better known for its northern lighthouse Muckle Flugga - a more lonely and barren spot you would find difficult to identify!
