Tighnabruaich

Scotland > West of Scotland > Argyll > Tighnabruaich

The village of Tighnabruaich is located off the main A886 Colintraive to Strachur road. The road runs down the west side of Loch Riddon and views from this road across the Kyles of Bute, the narrow straits that separate Cowal from the island of Bute are quite breathtaking.

Tighnabruaich gets busy in the summer, it's a popular spot with both motorists and yachtsmen. It also hosts a watersports centre near the pier and a couple of good hotels and tearooms with a supermarket and bank. Much of the accommodation is booked up people enrolled in at the Tighnabruaich Sailing School, which provides dinghy sailing and windsurfing courses.

Summer visits from the paddle steamer Waverley, the last sea going paddle steamer arrive at the old Tighnabruaich peir.
