

StraitonScotland > South of Scotland > Ayrshire > Straiton The village of Straiton lies 6 miles south east of Maybole, on the Water of Girvan in South Ayrshire. It dates back to 1760 when the village was laid out by Thomas, Earl of Cassillis. Sir Edward Hunter Blair, Laird of Blairquhan Castle virtually rebuilt the village around the 1900's. It has a narrow main street with single storey cottages on either side. Buildings of note including the Black Bull Inn c1766, and a church of c1758 can be found in the village.
