Lying on the Water of Feugh in Aberdeenshire, Strachan is located 2 miles (3 km) south of Banchory. To the west can be found the Forest of Birse, while a few miles further finds the 16th century Aberdeenshire Castle of Birse. South east of Strachan stands Kerloch at 1,747 ft.
