Stow

Scotland > Central Scotland > Midlothian > Stow

Located in southern Midlothian on the Gala Water lying approx. 7 miles (11 km) north of Galashiels. Stow, a rather quiet village, is home to an old pack-horse bridge dating back to the 17th century. The old church, now a ruin, was built around the Church of St Mary and was said to contain one of her relics. Near Lady's Well to the south, another church was built and is said to have been founded by King Arthur himself.

To the east of Stow, the road rises to above 1,100 ft across the moor before descending into Lauderdale. To the West stands the desolate Moorfoot Hills rising up to 2,161 ft.
