Stoer
Scotland > Highland Counties > Sutherland > Stoer
Located off the B869/A837, about 3 miles north west of Lochinver, this small isolated hamlet is at the centre of some of the best views in Sutherland.
On the B869 single-track road, past Clachtoll and Stoer, heading for the lighthouse at Rhubba Stoer, there is a path leading up and along the clifftops to the summit of Sidhean Mor. From here paths form a circular route from Sidean Mor, leading down to the clifftops on both sides of the Point of Stoer and back up again to the summit. With stunning views of the coastline and the Old Man of Stoer. This is the nesting place of many seabirds, and there are several points where you get excellent views of the birds nesting or diving for fish in the sea below, but do take care on the clifftops.
