Smailholm

The village of Smailholm is located off the B6397, 4 miles northwest of Kelso. It has a parish church dating from 1243. Nearby Sir Walter Scott's father farmed and Sir Walter spent some time here in his youth. Smailholm Tower stands to the southwest, an old stronghold of the Pringle family dating from the 15th century with panoramic views over the Border country.
