Located just off the A9, to the west of Clashmore, 4 miles west of Dornoch.

The American scottish born steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie built Skibo Castle as his Scottish retirement home between 1899 and 1903. Overlooking the Dornoch Firth, in the landscaped grounds, Carnegie created a loch and an 18-hole golf course.

Today the castle is a highly exclusive hotel, a discrete hide-away for the rich and famous from all over the world, including stars like Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson. It has also become the venue for celebratry weddings including Madonna, Robert Carlyle and Ewan MacGregor
