Located on the eastern shore of Loch Shieldaig, the village is off the A896. It overlooks Shieldaig Island, sitting in Shielaig Loch, with good views to Loch Torridon and Upper Loch Torridon, with nearby Ben Liathach behind. It was built in the 18th Century as a planned village.
