Sheriffmuir

In November 1715 an indecisive battle was fought between the Jacobites under the Earl of Mar and the government forces of the Duke of Argyll at Sheriffmuir.

It is located about 21 miles north east of Dunblane and 4 miles from Bridge of Allan, on a desolate moor at the edge of the Ochil Hills. The Jacobites never recovered momentum after the battle and the Rebellion fell apart
