Scotland > East of Scotland > Perthshire > Auchterarder

A Royal Burgh, the towns history begins with the granting of teinds by King Alexander II in 1227. But the lands have become associated with the Drummonds since the the early 14th cent. Their castle is just north of the town. It was traditionally a royal hunting seat. The town was destroyed by the jacobites in 1716.
