YesScotland.com : Saddell Castle Located in Kintyre, 8 miles north of Campbeltown, this small village sits on the rocky east coast of the promontory.

Nearby are the ruins of Saddell Abbey founded in 1160, by Somerled, the Lord of the Isles, who is buried here. In the abbey grounds there is a recently erected shelter canopy in it stand several medieval carved coffin stones with Celtic designs and figures of noblemen.

At the head of the bay stands Sandell Castle dating from 1508.

Sandell beach is where Sir Paul McCartney made the video for his famous song "Mull of Kintyre" accompanied by Campbeltown Pipers.
