Rhu was once a popular retreat for wealthy Glasgow merchants and their families and during the 19th century, smugglers were common here. 2 miles north of Helensburgh, Rhu sits on the east shore of Gare Loch, Rhu is still a common holiday destination. It is home to the royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club.
