RattrayScotland > East of Scotland > Perthshire > Rattray The villages of Old Rattray and New Rattray combine to make up the village of Rattray, meaning 'The Fort Of The Hunter.' Situated opposite Blairgowrie on the River Ericht, Rattray contains an ancient ruined chapel and cemetery, both dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In 1564, Rattray was made a Royal burgh by Mary Queen of Scots and until a large storm blocked the path from the nearby Loch of Strathbeg to the sea, in around 1720, Rattray was a port. ![]() |
