Port Seton

Scotland > Central Scotland > East Lothian > Port Seton

Port Seton was traditionally a fishing village but is now a popular holiday resort. Lying half a mile to the east of Cockenzie. The development of the town of Port Seton began as the hamlet of Seton, where the 11th Lord Seton was resident at Seton Palace. He built a harbour around 1656 and named it Port Seton, which then grew to become the settlement it is today. Seton Castle was built in 1790 by Robert Adam to replace the original Seton Palace which had been demolished.
