Port Charlotte with it's rows of well-kept, whitewashed cottages stretches along the wide bay. Established by Walter Campbell in 1828 and named after his mother, Port Charlotte lies on the shore of Loch Indaal. Originally planned to house workers from Lochindaal Distillery, Port Charlotte is now the largest settlement on Islay.
