Three miles southeast of Cupar lies Pitscottie, former home of Robert Lindsay of Pitscottie, author of 'Historie and Chronicles of Scotland.' Neaby, at Magnus Muir, lies a cairn marking the spot where Archbishop Sharp was murdered by Covenanters and Pitscottie Moor was a common meeting place for Covenanters in the late 17th century.
