Pitcairngreen

Scotland > East of Scotland > Perthshire > Pitcairngreen

Pitcairngreen grew around a bleach-field founded by Lord Lynedoch at the end of the 18th century. To the northeast of the village, a prehistoric burial cairn approximately 100 feet in diameter can be found and by the river to the northwest, lie the graves of Bessie Bell and Mary Gray, who sought relief from the plague here in 1645.
