The surveyor Peter F. Anson stated in 1929, 'Pennan must come first for picturesque situation' when discussing the fishing havens of Eastern Scotland. The scenic village is located on a rocky stretch of coast near Pennan Bay. Pennan is a favourite stop for artists and tourists alike, being not only extremely scenic, but the location for Bruce Forsyth's film 'Local Hero.'
