Murthly Castle

Scotland > East of Scotland > Perthshire > Murthly Castle



The oldest part of the castle was acquired between by Sir William Stewart of Grandtully in the 16th cent. Most of the additions were made later from the 17th cent until Victorian times. Located on the banks of the River Tay, built of ash coloured stone it was the seat of the Stewarts of Murthly.
