Lossiemouth

This traditional holiday resort has good sandy beaches on either side of the town. It has a range of facilities including sea angling and two 18-hole golf courses, one of which is of championship standard.
The Town Council of Elgin established a harbour here at the mouth of the Lossie after their original port had silted up.
Herring fishing in the nineteenth century brought expansion of the town. The harbour as it stands was built to accommodate the growing fishing fleet.
Traditional fishing, which is still an important part of the town's economy, Lossiemouth also owes its prosperity to the tourist industry and to the RAF station just to the south-west.
The Moray coast enjoys exceptionally low rainfall and a clear climate. Like most of the coastal towns in Moray, small neat white stone cottages are the architectural style most seen here.
