Ardbeg

Located on the south coast of the Island, Ardbeg was famous as a hideout for smugglers in the late 18th century.

The Distillery dates back as 1794. The present distillery was set up in 1817, yearly production was about 500 gallons by 1835 and by 1886 this had risen to a substantial 250,000 gallons.
