Kippford

Scotland > South of Scotland > Kirkcudbrightshire > Kippford

Located on the Urr estuary looking across the the Ridge of Screel and Bengairn, and down the estuary to Hestan Island. A very pretty village of granite & whitewashed houses, nestling in this rugged but beautiful location.
Historically fishing and smuggling were practiced here, today yachting, holiday village and golf.
By the end of the village there are two beautiful sandy and shell and pebble beaches, sheltered by rocky outcrops. One looks up the estuary towards the village, the other has a lovely view over the bay and islands.
