Kilmaurs

A small village northwest of Kilmarnock.

It still retains the old tollbooth on which the old chains and manacles still hang.

It grew in association with grain milling and the manufacture of cutlery, bonnets, boots and hosiery.

Today it has a mainline rail station, some shops, bar and tearooms.
