Kilchurn Castle
Scotland > West of Scotland > Argyll > Kilchurn Castle
The castle is located at the north east of Loch Awe, it was at one time a stronghold of the Campbells and was built around 1440 by the Breadalbane sept of the clan.
The south and north sides of the castle were added in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Breadalbane Campbells were anti-jacobite and offered the castle as a garrison for government troops in 1746.
