The Castle is an impressive ruin, positioned on a rocky promonotory over looking the Firth of Forth, with the Bass Rock in view. With cliffs with a fall of over 100 feet falling straight to the sea, the castle was in a strong position to defend the Firth.
Tantallon originally belonged to the Earls of Fife, after a colourful history, it was attacked by Cromwell's troops and surrendered after 12 days of bombardment. It was left to the ruin we now see today after this.... < more >
