Scenic views over Links Bay are made possible by the harbour, originally built by Patrick Ogilvie in order to allow shipping or 'Portsoy marble.' This marble is a type of serpentine that is light green and pink in colour. It was used for chimney-pieces in the Palace of Versailles.
